Nicole Smith was quite literally born into the world of hair. She grew up in a salon, painting, designing and styling everything in sight, while watching her mother in her hairstylist career. Once she realized her fate was sealed, Nicole was on the fast track to salon life. Nicole graduated beauty school in 1997 and has dabbled in many manners of hair life: teaching freshman level hair at a cosmology school; teaching for Alfa Parf and L’oreal; repping product (not the favorite); and, doing hair and makeup backstage at trade shows for Abba and L’oreal. Her most recent foray has been cutting and styling hair with Brian since 2004.  Nicole’s technical ability and natural instinct shines through her hands and the work they do, allowing her to thrive in doing what she loves by helping people feel beautiful and simply having great hair!

Brian Smith was on his way to culinary school when a newfound Texan friend suggested beauty school seemed to be a better fit. Since trading a chef knife for cutting shears, Brian hasn’t looked back from the world of hair. He graduated fromPhagans Beauty College in 1991, acquired Precision Cutting advanced training at Vidal Sassoon, and is consistently attending workshops and training to further hone his skills and deepen his knowledge of technique. Client proof of his cutting techniques and color rule breaking are easy to spot around Bend and beyond

– asymmetrical lines, splashes of color, severe edges are tell tale signs that Brian Smith has had his hands in that head of hair.

Jessica Allen is a true native, being born and raised in Bend.  She always been in all things beauty and fashion, but it wasn't until Brian started doing her hair that Jessica decided to really to do it. Her experience in his chair was always so great that she felt like she wanted to make people feel the same way.

She graduated from Phagen's and has been working in the industry for 8 years, as well as a 4 diamond resort and spa doing nails; she is becoming a well rounded stylist.  Jessica is a Senior Stylist and a recent graduate from House of Smith's very own apprentice program.  She has a passion for doing color and her favorite part of my job is making people feel beautiful and watching them walking away feeling amazing about themselves.

PHYTO was conceived by celebrity hairdresser Patrick Alès, long before the emergence of environmental awareness and botanical hair care trends.  It all started when he was an apprentice in Paris during the 1950's and noticed that chemically-laden products were taking a serious toll on the hands of the hairdresser's and the hair of their clientele.  The first seeds of his idea for a much gentler, less harmful range of hair products were quietly sown.  Fascinated by nature, he decided to study the power of plants,
their history of use in traditional medicine, and the role they might play to reveal hair’s natural beauty. It was finding ways to rescue his clients’ dry, bleached-out locks in the sixties that inspired his first products.
In 1965, Patrick Alès presented PHYTO with A-list clients such as Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to become the first beneficiaries of his new botanical hair care brand.

Drunk Elephant’s mission is to deliver clinically-effective, clean skincare formulated with both cutting-edge synthetic and natural ingredients; and without the ubiquitous toxins, sensitizers and irritants, such as the disruptive essential oils, that block the pathway to healthy skin.  D.E's goal is to teach the consumer that “natural” doesn’t automatically mean good and that every ingredient should directly and only benefit the health of our skin or the safety of the formulation.  They also want to make your life easier by paring down your routine to a few clean, selective products is our plan for a bare-faced, radiant you. Our goal is to improve whatever it is you’ve felt you needed to hide and allow your skin to breathe again.  It's everything you need and nothing you don't!
